The Morning After . . . .

Good Morning All.

I suspect that not too many Concord AllStars will see much of this particular Sunday morning, but when they do they’ll awake to find a well-deserved silver medal around their necks. And how close was it to being a gold ? They worked so hard in their preparations, especially this last week, and gave everything that we asked – and a little bit more, pushing Champions Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors to the very edge. Another week, another contest ? Could we have taken them ? We’ll never know but we certainly staked our claim as one of the country’s top Junior groups – and did it in style.

For the record, Concord AllStars won captions in :

Music Effect
Visual Effect
Field Percussion (usually KS strongest area)

And were VERY close runners-up in all the others – notably Colour Guard where the gap was reduced to just 0.5 points

Final Scores :

1. Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors 63.40
2. Concord AllStars 62.05
3. 37th Kingswood Cadets 55.05
4. Black Knights Cadets 50.20

Full recap sheets can be found on : www.dcuk.org.uk/ where you can also find details of how to order the commemorative dvd (I’m sure loads of you will want one of those)

Special thanks are due to our music arrangers, visual designers and instructional staff for all their vision, dedication and hard work in bringing the youngsters to this point and to all the parents and supporters for their wide-ranging help and their magnificent support from the stands.

A date for your diaries : Concord (combined) Awards evening will be on Saturday 7th December (details to follow)

Meanwhile there is loads to do as our AllStars programme continues. Rehearsals from next Saturday move back to Croft House (usual times). Another busy weekend coming up as on Saturday 28th we rehearse (hopefully welcoming a few new members) and later in the morning we perform at the opening of Edward Street Park (just up the road from Croft House with a non-uniform standstill). The following day (Sunday 29th) we will be joining the Senior Ensemble to entertain the 8,000 runners on the Great Yorkshire Run (Penistone Road, near McDonalds from 9.30 am) Full ShowBrief available for this. Lots of parents’ cars needed to drive the members there from Croft House - down a closed Penistone Road (that’s quite a sensation in itself – vehicle passes via RCS on the day)

Then, of course, there’s Individuals & Ensembles to work for (Sunday 24th November in Stafford), The Santa Tour in December and preparations for 2014 (as usual we’ll announce the theme for next year’s field show at the Awards Evening – together with details of a few extra events in 2014 and, maybe, some new equipment).

There will, no doubt, be a few changes in our line-up over the winter and we need to urgently recruit new members to build up the horn-line, front line and colour guard. There may even be a few openings in our Champion drum-line.

MANY CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE ALLSTARS FANTASTIC 2013 SEASON.
