DCUK Finals

The very best of luck to those members of the Concord family involved in the at Mansfield Town FC this coming Saturday 19th September.

The Ceremonial Fanfare Team will once again open the evening's proceedings with a brand-new fanfare composed by our "Musique" Music Leader, Rob Straw and entitled "Jubilee". This professional and impressive team have now become a regular fixture to launch the evening spectacular.

Making their first ever appearance at DCUK's season climax, the Concord AllStars will participate in the Junior Class - thus ensuring the continuation of Concord's non-stop participation in DCUK FInals - their 25th consecutive year - a record no other British corps can match. We wish our youngsters a particularly successful performance - they have worked so hard and despite having no previous experience whatsoever, we are confident they will impress.

We hope loads of our Alumni, along with parents and friends, will be there in the stands on Saturday to cheer along the latest generation.

The Concord family is proud of its long tradition of supporting DCUK activities and looks forward to many more years of involvement in this fine activity.

Good luck to all particpants in this very special celebration.

DCUK CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 - 3 CHAMPIONS CROWNED

On the night of Saturday 19th September DCUK celebrated the end of its 30th consecutive British Drum Corps Championships by crowning their three 2009 Champion Corps in front of a large and enthusiastic audience at Field Mill Stadium, Mansfield.

In the morning and early afternoon 12 Corps competed to decide which 8 would go through to compete for the Open Class Championships with the remainder moving into A Class.

In Junior Class 6th Hove B Corps fought off strong opposition from Kidsgrove Scouts Juniors to become the 2009 British Junior Class Champions:
1 - 59.60 - 6th Hove B
2 - 58.40 - Kidsgrove Juniors
3 - 52.95 - 37th Kingswood Cadets
4 - 50.15 - Black Knights Cadets
5 - 42.60 - Concord AllStars

Next the four A Class Corps took to the field for their second performance with Staffordshire Knights taking the honours over 6th Hove Scouts:
1 - 63.45 - Staffordshire Knights
2 - 60.55 - 6th Hove
3 - 51.75 - Pacemakers
4 - 48.85 - Atherstone

And then the 8 Open Class Corps took to the field under floodlights with a close contest between the top 3 Corps finally being won by Kidsgrove Scouts winning their second title in three years:
1 - 86.05 - Kidsgrove Scouts
2 - 84.10 - Senators
3 - 81.65 - Northern Star

5 - 70.35 - Trinity
6 - 69.50 - 37th Kingswood Scouts
7 - 67.30 - Black Knights
8 - 64.85 - Cheshire Cadets

During the day Spirit of Coventry entertained the audience just prior to the A Class event and as the floodlights came on, following a specially commission fanfare by the Concord Fanfare team, the Dagenham Crusaders entered the field bringing back memories of 30 years ago and performed an exhibition that was classic Dagenham which bought the audience to their feet and was a fitting start the Open Class Finals.

The event was covered by both DrumCorpsMedia.com and Drum Corps World and photos taken by both these will available soon - details to follow.

So the first 30 years comes to a close on a perfect night for Drum Corps - here is to the next 30!
