Joined Concord in 1985 from a 2nd Sheffield Boys' Brigade. Marched french Horn until 1992, when he became Drum Major. 1994 saw Chris step off the box and march Baritone in the hour of need (whilst still retaining the Drum Majors duties - David Blake conducted the show). 1995 was a year back at the helm and also 1996, until a car crash to one of the lead Mellophones saw Chris step back on the field as Lead Mellophone for the second half of his age out season. Chris joined the Brass staff and taught the baritone line in 1997 and 1998 (and marched two BYBA shows - one on Baritone and one on Mellophone that summer!). 1999 saw Chris take a larger role in the brass line as the staff numbers got smaller. The year 2000 saw Chris once again step back onto the field, this time on Contra, as again illness took its toll on the members. When the Corps entered Cadet Class in 2001, Chris was an integral part of instructing all sections as the staff was small (although very experienced as only one staff member had not taught the Open Class corps). 2002 saw Chris again on the box! And in 2003, Chris is arranging the music alongside Dan Lutz. In between all that, Chris managed to fit in a summer with the Dutch Boy Drum and Bugle Corps in 1990 and finished in 12th place at DCI! |
